6/27/2009 San Benito Rodeo and Parade

This weekend is the San Benito Rodeo 2009. We took some shots at the Parade and the Rodeo qualifying. You can find our gallery here.

6/4/2009 San Juan Bautista

San Juan Bautista with its Mission and Spanish Plaza is clearly something special. We are quite often there. Here is a gallery of some antique style images we took in San Juan.

4/5/2009 More Oak

We explore our new home area as much as our time allows. Oak trees are high on our list. We plan to re-visit the trees we identify over the seasons and at different light.

We created a new group at Flickr "Hwy25 and San Benito County" and invite all local photographers to contribute.

Of course there is more to San Benito County than oak.

2/24/2009 New Oak Hill Photo

The rain over the last week created very green hills. We love these scenes.

2/9/2009 Diary Start

We are moving from San Jose,CA to Hollister (50 miles South East of our current home). The print studio is now in our new house and is already fully operational. For photographers moving to a new location (even only 50 miles) means exploring the new environment. Although the moving process keeps us extremely busy the landscape around Hollister got us really excited.

Hollister (36,000 people) is a classic agricultural and commuter town. San Jose once was mainly orchards and Hollister is more like this still today. Hollister is part of the small (in terms of population) San Benito County (about 56,000 people). Also in San Benito County is the lovely town of San Juan Bautista (about 8 miles from our new home). San Juan Bautista has one of the beautiful California Missions and the last existing Spanish Plaza in California. We love to visit San Juan for many years. Now we plan to visit San Juan more often, even for just some coffee. Also nearby (32 miles) from Hollister is the Pinnacles National Park featuring some unique rock formations.

We love the landscape near Hollister. These are beautiful rolling hills with lovely oak trees.

We love to photograph oak hills and Hollister allows us to explore them at many different weather and light conditions. We also photograph all we find on our trips.

Hollister Barn

We plan to visit Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur more often. Both is now 27 miles closer and these are the more boring miles of the trip. San Francisco is 50 miles further away but still in good reach.

As you can see we are quite excited about our move. We now offer our 1:1 consulting sessions from Hollister. There is a lot to explore nearby and our editing/printing setup is state of the art.

This diary will share with you our latests shots from our new neighborhood. If you know good info about Hollister or San Benito County you can drop us a line and we share this with our readers.
